(This functionality is available with the Computations
module)
Creates a new polygon by tracing through existing contiguous line objects. Any line objects will be used except for spirals and offsets.
To run this option, select the Create/Polygon command and the Method/Trace command from the Computations task to display the relevant dialog box.
The polygon to be created will be given the attributes currently defined via the Attributes/Polygon command.
Create Traced Polygon dialog box
Item | Used to |
Line No: | Select a line object, an end of which will be the start of the new
traced polygon. On snapping, the rubber band will attach to the line end point closest to the cursor position, and that point number will be placed in the start point field. The line along which the trace will commence is highlighted. If this is not the required start point or line, snap again to the required line near its required end. |
Start Point: | Select a point at the end of an existing line object, which will
be the start of the new traced polygon. On snapping, the line along which the trace will commence is highlighted, and that line number will be placed in the Line No. field. If this is not the required start point or line, snap again to the required point near the required line. |
Increment polygon description: | Specify that the Description field in this dialog box is to be automatically
increased by a value of 1 after each polygon creation. Only the last occurrence of a digit from 0 to 9 in the description will be incremented. e.g. LOT 9 increments to LOT 10 UNIT 3A increments to UNIT 4A If the description field does not include a number, it will not be automatically altered. |
Description: | Key in the desired polygon description for the next polygon to be created. |
Apply | Commence the trace operation. Alternatively, use the accept mouse button. |
Accept | Accept the currently highlighted line as the required trace direction when more than one trace direction is available. |
Reject | Reject the currently highlighted line as the required trace direction when more than one trace direction is available. An alternative trace line will then be highlighted. |
Back | Undo the trace operation in the reverse order of tracing back to the last decision. Very useful if you accept the wrong option. |
Abort | Ends the creation of the current alignment and allows a new polygon to be started. |
