(This functionality is available with the Computations
module)
Moves or copies, objects by nominating points which define the amount of shift.
Note: This is a 2 dimensional (XY) move only. If you need to perform a 3 dimensional move, use the Move/Copy by Coordinates command.
The Edit / Move/Copy / Points command is selected from the Computations task.
Copy/Move by Points dialog box
Item | Used to |
Point Range | Key in the point identifier or point identifier range of the points
to be moved. For a range of points, key in two point identifiers separated by two dots. |
Reference Point | Key in the point identifier which defines the start of the vector
by which the objects are to be moved. Alternatively, snap to and accept an existing point to have its identifier placed in this field. |
Destination Point | Key in the point identifier which defines the end of the vector
by which the objects are to be moved. Alternatively, snap to and accept an existing point to have its identifier placed in this field. |
Copy | Select this check box if you wish to copy rather than move the data selected. |
Adopt Destination Point | Select this check box if you wish to use the destination point instead of a copy of the reference point. |
Prefix | If copying, this prefix will be added to the Point Identifiers of the existing points to generate the Identifiers of the new points created. |
Suffix | If copying, this suffix will be added to the Point Identifiers of the existing points to generate the Identifiers of the new points created. |
Move | Move the selected point range by the difference in co-ordinates
between the reference point and the destination point. In single object mode, the point(s) shown in the point range field will be moved. If the point range field is empty, the reference point will be moved. In block mode, only the points shown in the point range field and also defined by the block will be moved. If the point range field in empty, then all points defined by the block will be moved. |
Close | Close the dialog box. |
Note that any line objects, polygons, alignments and section markers that are associated with the selected point(s) will be automatically amended to reflect the movement of those points.
If the Block is on when this command is used any text objects contained within the Block will also be moved.
If the points defined to be moved are part of a spiral, arc or circle object, the object will be re created if the geometry of the points that defined the object is still valid, otherwise the object will be destroyed. For example, you cannot move an arc end point and keep the arc, unless the move maintains the radius.
