(This functionality is available with the Computations
module)
Creates a new point at the intersection of two line objects.
To run this option, select the Create/Point command and the Method / Line/Line Intersection command from the Computations task to display the relevant dialog box.
The points to be created will be given the attributes currently defined via the Attributes/Point command. You should use that command to set the required attributes before creating any points.
Create Point by Line/Line Intersection dialog box
Item | Used to |
Point ID | Key in the identifier to be created of the point to be created.
If the function is operating in Block mode the function will create
the new points using the next available point identifier from this identifier. The point identifier may also be determined by using the Next or Last buttons. |
Line 1 | Key in, or snap to and accept, the first line to be used in the line intersection. If the function is operating in Block mode this field will be disabled as all lines that satisfy the Block criteria will be intersected with Line 2. |
Line 2 | Key in, or snap to and accept, the second line to be used in the line intersection. |
Elevations | |
No Elevation | The intersection point generated will not be given an elevation. |
Interpolate Elevation From Line 1 | The elevation of the point will be computed by interpolating along Line 1. |
Interpolate Elevation From Line 2 | The elevation of the point will be computed by interpolating along Line 2. |
Integration | |
Insert Point into Line 2 | If this is selected the intersection point will be inserted into the geometry of Line 1. |
Break Line 1 at Point | This option is only available if "Insert Point into Line 1" has
been selected. If selected Line 1 will be broken at the intersection
point. If this option is greyed, this will be because Line 1 selected is a circle and these can not be broken. If the function is operating in Block mode and a circle is included in the block then this will also cause this option to not be available. |
Insert Point into Line 2 | If this is selected the intersection point will be inserted into the geometry of Line 2. |
Break Line 2 at Point | This option is only available if "Insert Point into Line 1" has
been selected. If selected Line 2 will be broken at the intersection
point. If this option is greyed, this will be because Line 1 selected is a circle and these can not be broken. If the function is operating in Block mode and a circle is included in the block then this will also cause this option to not be available. |
OK | Creates new points at all intersections along both lines. If the function is operating in Block mode then all lines that satisfy the Block criteria will be intersected against line 2. |
Next | Update the point identifier field to the next available identifier greater than the identifier currently shown. |
Last | Update the point identifier field to one greater than the highest identifier in the data base. |
Close | Closes the dialog box. |
Note: The elevation and contourable point attributes are determined by the computation, not by the point attributes dialog. E.g. If the intersection point is being assigned an elevation and is being inserted into a break line it will be flagged as contourable regardless of the currently set point attributes.
