Create Point By ChainagePoint by Chainage

(This functionality is available with the Computations module)

Creates a new point by chainage along an alignment.

To run this option, select the Create/Point command and the Method/Chainage command from the Computations task to display the relevant dialog box.

The point to be created will be given the attributes currently defined via the Attributes/Point command. You should use this command to set the required attributes before creating any points.

Item Used to
Point ID: Key in the point identifier of the point to be created.
The point identifier may also be determined by using the Next or Last buttons.
Alignments: Select the alignment, with reference to which, the point will be created.
Long Section: Select a long section to control the elevation of the new point. If a valid long section is selected, it will be used when interpolating the elevation at the chainage and the "On Grade" and "Elevation" fields are disabled. If [None] is selected, the Alignment elevations or the "Elevation" field will be used to interpolate the elevation and "Add to LS" will not be available.
On Grade Compute the new point elevation on the Alignment's grade, and disable the "Elevation" field. "On Grade" is only available if [None] is selected for the Long Section.
Insert Insert the new point into the alignment. 
Add to LS Add the new point to the selected long section. Not available if [None] is selected for the long section.
Chainage or Distance: Enter the position along the alignment where the point is to be created.
The name of this field is dependant on what has been set as the "Data Input By" type in the Configure/Alignment dialog.
You may also snap to any point to have its chainage or distance returned to the field.
Elevation: Enter the elevation of the point to be created. This field is not available if "None" is selected for the Long Section, or if "On Grade:" is selected.
OK Create the point.
The point will be created using the identifier and values specified and with the attributes currently set in the Attributes/Point command.
Next Update the point identifier field to the next available unused point identifier greater than the point identifier currently shown.
Last Update the point identifier field to one greater than the highest point identifier in the data base.
Close Closes the dialog box.
