Progressive Surface to Surface VolumesProgressive Surface to Surface Volumes

(This functionality is available with the Volumes module)

Computes the progressive volumes between two surfaces at user defined elevation intervals.

Item Used to
Block is active: Indicate whether there is a block currently active.
This message will read "Block Is Not Active" if a block is not active.
If there is an active block, then the volume computed will be of only that part of the model with triangles that are wholly defined by the block.
That is, if there is an active block, the boundary of the volume calculation is defined by the edges of the displayed triangles. Ensure that triangle display is active in the Terrain Modelling/Display/Model command, and that the block check box is active in the Display/Features command, as this will display only those triangles which will be used in the volume calculation.
Refer to the Block command for information on creating and using blocks.
From Surface: Display the name of the currently open (primary) data set.
Model name: By default displays the name of the currently displayed model from which the volumes will be computed.
Any model in the primary data set can be selected from the drop down list.
To Surface: Display the name of the secondary data set.  By default this is set to the currently open data set.
Model name: Display the name of the model to which the volumes will be computed.
Any model in the secondary data set can be selected from the drop down list.
The "From" model and the "To" model cannot be the same model.
Browse... Bring up the Browse dialog box allowing an external data base to be selected as the "To" surface.
Output
Top Elevation: Key in the top elevation that you want the volume computed to.
The units of the datum elevations will be as set in the Utilities/Configure/Units command.
Base Elevation: Key in the base elevation that you want the volume computed from.
Elevation Interval: Key in the elevation interval that you want the volume computed for.
From Base to Top: Select this option if you want the progressive volumes computed from the base elevation up to the top elevation.
From Top to Base: Select this option if you want the progressive volumes computed from the top elevation down to the base elevation.
Top: Press this button to find the highest elevation from both models within the selected area and place the value in the Top Elevation edit field.
Base: Press this button to find the lowest elevation from both models within the selected area and place the value in the Base Elevation edit field.
Relative Interval: Select this check box if you want the volumes to be progressively computed at selected intervals relative to the base or top elevation. For example, if the base elevation is 10.8, the interval selected is 1.00, and this is checked, volumes will be computed at 10.80, 11.80, 12.80 etc.

Do not select this check box if you want the volumes to be progressively computed at absolute intervals from the base or top elevation. For example, if the base elevation is 10.8, the interval selected is 1.00, and this is not checked, volumes will be computed at 10.80, 11.00, 12.00 etc.
Header: Select this check box if you want a header to go out with the results and for the results to be formatted into columns.
Do not select this option if you intend reading the file into another application. The results will be space delimited.
Compute: Computes the volumes at each defined interval and displays the result in a report. This report can be saved for future use.
Cancel: Close the dialog box.
