Height Difference Details

(This functionality is available with the Volumes module)

Used to enter file details for the new Height Difference database generated by comparing two models, and to assign feature codes to the points and lines included in this database.

The dialog box is run via the Details & Codes button that is available on the Create Height Difference Data Base dialog.

No Cut / No Fill points and lines are those computed to define the intersection of the 'From' and 'To' models. Boundary points and lines are those computed at the common boundary of the "From' and 'To' models. They define the extent of the common area and therefore the boundary of the height difference model.
Break Line points and lines are those that existed in the 'From' and 'To' models. They are all added to the height difference model to ensure that it reflects the source models. They also include new points computed at the intersections of triangles in one source model with break lines in the other source model.
New Points are those computed at the triangle intersections. They are all added to the height difference model to ensure that it reflects the source models.

Notes: Points in the source models, which are not part of a break line, are also added to the height difference database, but retain the feature code of the source model. If there is more than one point at the same XY location, only the point from the 'From' model is used.
It is possible that points of extremely close proximity may be generated in forming the height difference model. These points are for all intents and purposes at the same location (i.e. "duplicate XY" points). As such, the system generally adopts only one of the "duplicate XY" points for inclusion in the height difference model and the code is chosen based on the following hierarchy (Boundary, Cut/Fill, Break, 'From' data base code, 'To' data base code, New Point). It is however still possible for "duplicate XY" points to be present in the new database, and it is therefore recommended that the new database be filtered before forming a model.
