Point ReportPoints Comparison to Linear Object

Compares points to a linear object, while also reporting on the point location and relationship to a reference alignment: The points reported on will be the points currently displayed in the open project and defined by a block (if a block is active).

To allow easy separation of "as constructed" survey data from design, the reference alignment and the linear object may reside in a different project to the points.

The linear object may be an alignment, a long section, or a line string. Only one such linear object may be selected for each report.

This command is group sensitive and block sensitive.

The "Report/Point Comparison to Linear Object" command is selected from the Plan View Utilities task.

Point Comparison to Linear Object dialog box.

Item Used to
Reference Project Display the name of the reference project, from which the "Reference Alignment" and the "Linear Object" will be selected.
Browse Open the Browse dialog box to select the Reference Project, from which the "Reference Alignment" and the "Linear Object" are to be selected.
Reference Alignment Select a "Reference Alignment" from the available list. The Chainage and Offset will be computed for each point, with respect to this alignment. You can select [None] if you do not want those values reported.
Linear Object Select an alignment, a long section or a line object that the points are to be compared to. An alignment or a long section can be selected from the drop lists. A line is selected by entering its line number. A valid line object may be a line string, arc, spline or spiral (2 types).
Output Select which columns are to appear in the report.
Comma Delimited Select that the reported data be comma delimited suitable for opening in spreadsheets.
Tolerances Enter the tolerances. If the difference between a point and the linear object exceed these values a warning will appear in the appropriate "Outside Tolerance" column.
OK Perform the comparison operation and produce the comparison report.
Cancel Close the dialog box.

Notes:

Records in the report are sorted in the points chainage order if a "Reference Alignment" is selected. Otherwise they are sorted by Point Identifier.

If a selected point is before or after the "Reference Alignment", a Reference Alignment Chainage or Offset is not reported.

If a selected point is before or after the "Linear Object", "Offset to Linear Object" and "Elevation Difference" are not reported.

Offsets and elevation differences to the "Linear Object" are computed at normal position to the "Linear Object".
