Transform ProjectionTransform Projection

(This functionality is available with the Transformations module)

The Projections / Transform Projection command is used to transform the co-ordinates in the currently open data base to a different projection.

Transform Projection dialog box

Command Used to
Current Projection: Displays the projection parameters for the currently open data base.
New Projection
Projection Type: Select the projection type for the new projection to which the co-ordinates are to be transformed.
Projection types that may be selected from the drop list include:
  • Plane (Plane geometry; no projection)
  • Transverse Mercator (Includes UTM)
  • Lambert Conformal Conic
  • Double Stereographic
  • Oblique Mercator
  • NAD27 Transverse Mercator
  • NAD27 Lambert Conformal Conic
  • Swiss
  • New Zealand
Projection: Select the projection from the drop down list that the co-ordinates are to be transformed to. This list will contain all installed projections of the selected projection type.
Use Transformation Scheme: Select the transformation scheme from the drop down list that will be used to transform the co-ordinates. This will contain all transformations using the projection of the LISCAD data base and the projection selected to transform to.
To set up a new transformation scheme refer to the Manage Transformation Schemes topic.
Do not transform elevations Select this option if you do not want the elevations to be transformed.
Transform: Transform the co-ordinates to the selected new projection.

NOTE: The projection details for the data base are changed to the new projection.
The transformation can only be completed if the current and new projections use the same ellipsoid, or a transformation scheme has been defined. The transformation is only valid if the resultant co-ordinates fall within the extents of the new projection.
If the current or new projection is a plane, the co-ordinates will not be altered, but the projection details will be changed to the new projection.
