Walk CameraWalk Camera

Allows the user to "walk" around the 3D scene.

The Walk Camera will move the camera target towards the mouse position and move the camera position toward the camera target. The walk camera is always positioned at a configurable height above a model, if there is no model below the camera position, it will jump to the nearest point on the closest visible model.

If there are no models visible in the scene, the walk camera is disabled .

To use the Walk Camera, select the tool by clicking it with the accept mouse button.

Hold the left mouse button down and slowly move the cursor over the scene. The camera will start to follow the mouse.

Holding the middle mouse button down and moving the cursor over the scene will strafe the camera left and right, up and down.

Holding the SHIFT key down at the same time will cause the effect of the camera's position standing still, but the camera's target will change with the mouse cursor, so as to seem to be looking around the scene.

Pressing the plus or minus buttons will speed up or slow down the speed of the "walk".

If the user double clicks an area on the scene with the mouse, the camera will go directly to that position.

Control will stay in the Walk Camera allowing you to progressively walk further around the scene.

The speed the camera is going, the direction it is travelling in, the angle of elevation it is travelling in and the amount of tilt off vertical is displayed in the Status Bar.

Clicking the snap mouse button will show the Display menu. The Walk Camera may also be exited by selecting any other tool or command.
