Section Marker by RangeSection Marker by Range

(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design module)

Creates new section markers by selecting a location range.

To obtain this option, select the Create/Section Marker command and the Method/By Range command from either the Computations task or the Profiles task when in a plan view to display the relevant dialog box.

Section markers to be created will be given the attributes currently defined via the Attributes/Section marker command from either the Computations task or the Profiles task when in a plan view. You should use these menu commands to set the required attributes before creating any section markers.

Item Used to
Alignment: Select the primary alignment for which section markers are to be created.
Start Chainage or Start Distance: Enter or select the start location of the section marker range.
The name of this field is dependent on what has been set as the Data Input By type in the Configure/Alignment dialog.
End Chainage or End Distance: Enter or select the start location of the section marker range.
The name of this field is dependent on what has been set as the Data Input By type in the Configure/Alignment dialog.
Key Points: Create section markers at key points.
Chainages: Create section markers at chainages.
Interval: Enter the interval at which you want section markers created.
Interval Shift: Enter the interval shift. For example, if the interval is 100 and the interval shift is 10, then the section markers will be created at chainages, 10, 110, 210, 310, etc.
Vertical Key Points: Create section markers at vertical key points.
If this option is chosen the drop down list below will include all the names of the long sections that relate to the alignment chosen above. Section markers will then be created at the distance of all vertical key points in the long section chosen.
Please note that if the long section includes vertical curves, section markers will be created at the distance of the start and end points of the curve, as well as the distance of the vertical curves high or low point.
Vertical Floating Points: Create section markers at vertical floating points.
If this option is chosen the drop down list below will include all the names of the long sections that relate to the alignment chosen above. Section markers will then be created at the distance of all vertical floating points in the long section chosen.
