Section Marker by ChainageSection Marker by Chainage

(This functionality is available with the Computations and the Profiles and Design module)

Creates a new section marker by selecting a chainage on the primary alignment.

To obtain this option, select the Create/Section Marker command and the Method/By Chainage command from either the Computations task or the Profiles task when in a plan view to display the relevant dialog box.

The section marker to be created will be given the attributes currently defined via the Attributes/Section marker command from either the Computations task or the Profiles task when in a plan view. You should use these menu commands to set the required attributes before creating any section markers.

Item Used to
Alignment Select the primary alignment for which the section marker is to be created.
Chainage or Distance: Enter the location, or display the location of a point that you have snapped and/or accepted with the mouse. The name of this field is dependent on what has been set as the Data Input By type in the Configure/Alignment dialog.
OK: Accept the chainage of the point that was snapped to with the mouse, or entered via the keyboard.
Close: Close the dialog box.
Help: Display the help for this dialog.

NOTE: Clicking anywhere on the display area will create a section marker on the primary alignment. In this case the section marker will be created at a point represented by the end of an imaginary line that is drawn from the mouse position to the nearest line segment of the primary alignment, perpendicular to that segment.
