Datum and Scale (Long Section CAD Output)

(This functionality is available with the Profiles and Design module)

Controls the scale and the dimensions of the long section to be output to a CAD system.

Setting configurations in this dialog will be saved in the currently open long section CAD output layout file.

The Datum and Scale option can be chosen from the CAD Output dialog. This dialog is displayed after selecting the CAD Output command from the Profiles task in a long section view.

Item Used to
Sheet: Select a standard sheet size to be used when determining a Fit Scale for the long section. WidthxHeight (Sheet name)
Note: When a sheet size is selected it automatically appears in the Fit Size edit field.
Landscape: Orientate the sheet horizontally.
Portrait: Orientate the sheet vertically. i.e. 90 degrees clockwise from the landscape position.
Fit Size: Key in a user defined fit size that is independent of the Sheet size. This value is used to determine the Fit Scale of the long section.
Scale
This group is used to set the scale that is used when plotting the drawing from the CAD system. For LISCAD CAD, the CAD file is created at the scale entered in plan units (millimetres on the plan).
For AutoCAD and MicroStation the CAD file is created at full size according to the co-ordinates in the data base. In these two cases the scale entered here is used only to calculate the text and symbol sizes in ground units, such that when plotted at the entered scale, they will be at the required size on the plan.
Horizontal 1: Key in or display the horizontal scale that is used to determine the plotting extents of the long section.
Vertical 1: Key in or display the vertical scale that is used to determine the plotting extents of the long section.
Fit: Compute a horizontal scale by taking the start and end chainages and deducing a horizontal scale based upon the fit size.
Scale Label Settings: Open the Scale Label Settings dialog. This is used to define the attribute information for the horizontal and vertical scale text.
Start Distance/Chainage: Key in the start distance or chainage of the primary long section in the display.
End Distance/Chainage: Key in the end distance or chainage of the primary long section in the display.
Note: The "Start..." and "End...." fields will either show "Chainage" or "Distance" depending on the settings defined in the Configure Alignment dialog.
If alignments are configured for chainages and the primary long section in the window is based upon an alignment then additional drop down list fields will become available so that any chainage ambiguities can be resolved.
Datum Label: Toggle the output of the base elevation datum value.
Datum Label Settings: Open the Datum Label Settings dialog. This is used to define the attribute information for the base elevation datum value text.
Base Elevation: Key in the elevation that represents the bottom of the long section display area.
Note: The default value is the lowest elevation of any of the long sections being output (in model units).
Length Limit: Key in the maximum length before breaking the long section.
The default value is the total length of the primary long section in the display (in model units).
Height Limit: Key in the maximum height difference allowable along the long section before applying a Base Shift.
The default value is the difference in height between the highest and lowest elevation in the long sections (in model units).
Section name Settings: Open the Section name Settings dialog. This is used to define the attribute information for the Section name text.
Base Shift: Key in a shift value for the datum base line. This is used to adjust the display of the long section if it goes above the datum base line plus the height limit, or below the current datum base line.
This value must be positive and less than the height limit. The default value is half the height limit.
Section Separation: Key in the distance between the breaks of the long section.
The default value is 150mm.
Long Section Overlap: Key in the distance of the length of the overlap that is to be applied at each section separation.
The default value is zero.
CAD System Options: Display the CAD System Options dialog.
Extents: Sets the Start Distance/Chainage, End Distance/Chainage, Base Elevation, Length Limit and Height Limit values to the complete extents of the long section.
OK: Close the dialog and save the current settings.
Cancel: Close the dialog without applying the changes.
