(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)
This topic documents the operation codes that may be used when performing field surveys with Carlson data recorders for processing in the system.
Operation Codes for Carlson data recorders
Various field operations can be entered using the Carlson SurvCE description field which can be attached to each observation record.
Note: When assigning identifiers to points in the field, if spaces are used, the space will be replaced with underscores.Example: STN 1 will be recorded as STN_1.
Option | Description Entered | Result |
Feature Code | ccccc | The feature code entered (ccccc) is assigned to this point. |
Feature Code and Description | ccccc ddddd | The feature code entered (ccccc) and the description entered (ddddd) are both assigned to this point. A space must separate the feature code and description. |
Feature Code & Dimensioned Symbol | ccccc dim1 dim2 | The feature code entered (ccccc) is assigned to this point. The symbol associated with the feature code in the code table is dimensioned with the entered values (dim1 and dim2) which must be numbers. A space must separate the feature code and each dimension. Refer to the Code Table Point Attributes topic for an explanation of how dimensions 1 and 2 are applied to the symbol. |
F Code, Desc and Dim Symbol | ccccc ddddd dim1 dim2 | The feature code entered (ccccc) and description entered (ddddd) are assigned to this point. The symbol associated with the feature code in the code table is dimensioned with the entered values as in the previous option. |
Various other field operations can be entered using the comment field. If you intend to make use of the on board reduction facilities, and transfer a reduced co-ordinate file to the system, do not use the following operations. These operations are not processed by the Carlson software, and can only be processed by LISCAD if you transfer the raw observations.
Option | Comment Entered | Result |
Circle by 3 points | C3 | A circle is constructed using the previous point and the next two points as circumference points. |
Circle by centre and radius | CRxxxx | A circle is constructed using the previous point as centre and the radius entered (xxxx). |
Circle by diameter points | CD | A circle is constructed using the previous point and the next point as diameter points. |
Circle by centre and radial point | CC | A circle is constructed using the previous point as centre and the next point as a radial point. |
Offset forward | OFxxxx | The last point is moved away from the instrument point by the distance entered (xxxx). |
Offset back | OBxxxx | The last point is moved toward the instrument point by the distance entered (xxxx). |
Offset left | OLxxxx | The last point is moved to the left (at right angles to the line from the instrument) by the distance entered (xxxx). |
Offset right | ORxxxx | The last point is moved to the right (at right angles to the line from the instrument) by the distance entered (xxxx). |
Offset up | OUxxxx | The last point is raised by the height difference entered (xxxx). |
Offset down | ODxxxx | The last point is lowered by the height difference entered (xxxx). |
Close string | SB | The current string is closed back to its beginning. |
Start String from previous point | SP | A string just started is joined back to the previous point. |
Start straight strings | SS | Strings starting from the last point will be drawn as straight (not curved) until an SC comment is encountered. |
Start Curved strings | SC | Strings starting from the last point will be drawn as curved until an SS comment is encountered. |
Remove elevation | RL | The elevation is removed from the last point. |
