Breakline SegmentationBreakline Segmentation

(This functionality is available with the Modelling module)

Enables the creation and insertion of graded points along existing breaklines into the database.

This will therefore give the user greater flexibility to create a model that more closely depicts the existing conditions.

The Edit/Breakline Segmentation command is selected from the Terrain Modelling task.

Breakline Segmentation is Group sensitive.

You may then use the displayed Breakline Segmentation dialog box to select the options that are available.

Item Used to
Maximum Distance
The Maximum Distance group enables the user to select what line object types are to be segmented and the distance used when determining the number of points to be placed.
Segment Enable the segmentation of line objects to be implemented and a maximum segment distance to be entered.
The maximum distance displayed is used to compute the number of points that can be placed between each pair of vertices along a line. This number of points will then be positioned at equal intervals along the line segment.
Arc/Chord Offset Enable the segmentation of arc objects to be implemented and a maximum arc/chord offset to be entered.
The maximum distance displayed is used to compute the number of points that can be placed between the vertices of an arc. This number of points will then be positioned at equal intervals along the arc.
Spline Enable the segmentation of spline objects to be implemented and a maximum spline distance to be entered.
The maximum distance displayed is used to compute the number of points that can be placed between each pair of vertices along a spline. This number of points will then be positioned at equal intervals between each pair of vertices.
Spiral Enable the segmentation of spiral objects to be implemented and a maximum spiral distance to be entered.
The maximum distance displayed is used to compute the number of points that can be placed between each pair of vertices along a spiral. This number of points will then be positioned at equal intervals between each pair of vertices.
Group for inserted elements Select which group the new points are to be created on.
