(This functionality is available with the Input / Output module)
Imports data from a 12D Model ASCII file.
Note that the 12D "Name" field imports as the LISCAD feature code.
Refer also to the Import dialog box topic.
Fully Supported Features: The following fully supported features are imported without loss of information.
12D Feature | Map to LISCAD |
Models | Groups |
2d Strings | Points and lines |
3d Strings | Points and lines |
4d Strings | Points, Lines and Descriptions. |
Alignment Strings | Points, Lines, Arcs, Spirals, Alignments, Long Sections. • 12D Alignment Strings are imported as an alignment and also (if vertical data is available) as a long section. • Overlapping alignment strings are not merged. |
Arc Strings | Points and Arcs |
Circle Strings | Points and Circles |
Polyline Strings | Points, Lines, Arcs and Polygons |
Face Strings | Points, Lines, Polygons, Hatchings |
Partially Supported Features: The following partially supported features are imported but some information is lost.
12D Feature | Map to LISCAD |
Drainage Strings | Points, Lines, Arcs and Descriptions • Lines and arcs representing the drainage are imported. • Attribute information relating to flow direction, outfall and associated TINs is lost. • Any associated ‘pit’ attributes are imported as points with the name, type and diameter combined as the description. • Any associated ‘pipe’ attributes are imported as lines/arcs with the name, type and diameter combined as the description. • Any associated ‘property_control’ attributes are imported as lines/arcs with the lot name as the description. • Any associated ‘house_connection’ attributes ignored as the format is only tentative. |
Pipe Strings | Points, Lines and Descriptions. • The pipe string name and diameter are combined as the line description. |
Pipeline Strings | Points, Lines, Arcs, Descriptions, Alignments and Long Sections • Pipeline Strings are imported as an alignment and (if vertical data is available) a long section. |
Text Strings | Text • The Text String attributes ‘worldsize’, ‘papersize’ and ‘screensize’ are all treated as the text size in millimetres. The ‘raise’ and ‘xfactor’ attributes are ignored. |
Interface Strings | Points and Lines • The Interface String ‘mode’ attributes are lost. |
Super Strings | Points, Lines, Arcs and Spirals. • The Super String attributes ‘vertex_annotate_value’, ‘vertex_annotate_data’, ‘segment_annotate_value’ and ‘segment_annotate_data’ have attributes ‘worldsize’, ‘papersize’ and ‘screensize’ which are all treated as the text size in millimetres. The ‘raise’ and ‘xfactor’ attributes are ignored. • The following Super Strings components or values are not imported: - Any segments that use an unsupported spiral type (Westrail cubic, cubic spiral, natural clothoid, bloss, sinusoidal, cosinusoidal). - Any ‘diameter_value’ and ‘diameter_data’ attributes are combined with the name as the description. - Any ‘culvert_value’ and ‘culvert_data’ attributes are lost. - Any ‘justify’ attributes are lost. - Any ‘visibility’ attributes are lost. - Any ‘vertex_attribute_data’ or ‘segment_attribute_data’ attributes are lost. - Any ‘symbol_value’ and ‘symbol_data’ attributes lose their ‘style’, ‘raise’ and ‘offset’ attributes. |
Super Alignments | Points, Lines, Arcs, Spirals, Alignments,
Long Sections. • Super Alignments are imported provided that they do not contain any unsupported spirals. If unsupported spirals are found the alignment is imported as a series of lines/arcs with gaps where the unsupported spirals are and a record is made in the error log. |
Tins | Points, Lines, Models • Any ‘attributes’ and ‘input’ attributes are lost. These are optional information used by 12d Model and there are no equivalent parameters in Liscad. |
Super Tins | Points, Lines, Models • Any associated user defined attributes are lost. |
Unsupported Features: The following features are not supported.
- User Defined Attributes
- Feature String
- Plot Frame
