Edit Polygon DescriptionEdit Polygon Description

(This functionality is available with the Computations module)

Changes the description attribute of existing polygons. This command is very useful for quickly numbering the lots in a subdivision.

The Edit/Attributes/Polygon Description command is selected from the Computations task.

Edit Polygon Description dialog box

Item Used to
Increment Polygon Description: Specify that the Description field in this dialog box is to be automatically increased by a value of 1 after each operation to change a polygon description.
Only the last occurrence of a digit from 0 to 9 in the description will be incremented.
e.g. LOT 9 increments to LOT 10
UNIT 3A increments to UNIT 4A
If the description field does not include a number, it will not be automatically altered.
Polygon No: Key in an existing polygon number or display an existing polygon number selected with the mouse.
A range of polygon numbers may be selected by keying in two numbers separated by two dots. For example, 10..15 will select polygon numbers 10 to 15 inclusive.
The polygons identified here may have their descriptions changed when the OK button is selected.
Description: Key in the new description to be used for the selected polygon(s).
OK: Change the description of the selected polygon(s) to that contained in the description field.
In block mode, all the polygons defined by the block will have their description changed if the Polygon No field is blank. If the Polygon No field is not blank, then only those polygons defined by the block and by the entry in the Polygon No. field will be affected.
In single object mode, all the polygons identified in the Polygon No field will be affected.
As an alternative to keying in a polygon number, you may snap to and accept the required polygon with the mouse to change its description.
Cancel: Close the dialog box without making any further polygon description changes.

Note:

A common application for this command is to number the lots in a subdivision. The easiest way to do this is to firstly create the lots with any description attribute and then use this command in the following manner:
