Join LinesJoin

(This functionality is available with the Computations module and the 3D Visualisation module)

Joins two separate lines or splines, with a common end point, into one line or spline.

This dialog box is displayed after selecting the Edit/Join Line command from the Computations task or the 3D Visualisation module.

Item Used to
Primary Line: Key in the line number of the primary existing line to be joined.
Alternatively, snap to and accept an existing line to have its line number placed in this field and an associated point identifier placed in the Join Point field.
When snapping to the line, the point selected will have its identifier placed in the Join Point field.
Secondary Line: Key in the line number of the secondary existing line to be joined.
Alternatively, snap to and accept an existing line to have its line number placed in this field.
Join Point: Key in the point identifier at which the selected lines are to be joined.
The join point selected must be a common end point for both lines.
Join Joins the two selected lines at the common join point.
The new line will be given the line number and attributes of the primary line.
The new line can only be contourable if all points in both lines are also contourable.
Close Close the dialog box.

The two line objects must be of the same type, either line strings or splines.

Lines which are used in multiple polygons can only be joined if the lines are used in the same multiple polygons.
