- 1. Data Fields depend on Unit types
Note that for any particular creation method in the computations task, the data entry fields will vary depending on the selections made in the Utilities/Configure/Units command. Whereas the Help always refers generically to Bearing, Distance, East and North fields, the actual fields will depend on the unit types selected and could be any of the following:
For Bearings- Plane Grid Azimuth For Distances- Plane Ellipsoid Ground For Co-ordinates- East, North Latitude, Longitude For correct results, always ensure that you have the units configured according to the data being entered.
- 2. Methods available depend on unit types
Some creation methods become irrelevant and are therefore not available if other than plane bearings and distances have been configured. Those methods not available are disabled and this can be used to alert you to the fact that the system is on a projection. - 3. How to enter elevations
The method dialog boxes will only contain an elevation data entry field if the elevation attribute has been selected in the Attribute/Point command. In many cases the elevation may also be computed by an elevation difference or grade from the point you are at. The required input can be selected by using the scroll buttons on the method dialog boxes.
